Guest Post: Food In Half an Hour

Guest Post – Food In Half an Hour

In this text, you'll get to know the world of a food blogger and content creator, and hear a culinary professional's thoughts on VirQ's home products. At the end of the post, you'll also find a delicious recipe! The text is written by Tiina Hyrkäs, Food In Half an Hour food blogger and food content creator.

Hello to you on the other side of the screen! I'm Tiina. I worked in a professional kitchen for just over seven years, but long dreamed of a career in a creative field. For many years, I didn't dare to pursue work in a creative field. At thirty, I finally dared to grab hold of my own dreams and went to university of applied sciences to study, with the goal of finding a new career as a content marketing professional.

While studying, I developed my own food blog and also created an Instagram account for it. In one year, I managed to gather an audience of thousands of people for my Food In Half an Hour content alongside my part-time job and studies. I never expected my food content to become as popular as it did in just one year! Through a few twists and turns, I eventually ended up as an entrepreneur working as a content marketing professional with my own Food In Half an Hour brand.

Now I do work where I create easy and versatile everyday recipes for you that are both delicious and healthy. My mission is to help you find inspiration for cooking and healthy everyday food with easy recipes that have a maximum active cooking time of half an hour. I create recipes, test-cook them, style food portions, take pictures of them, produce short videos, write social media posts and blog articles, and collaborate with various companies.

Working with food content is meaningful to me because many people would like to eat healthily and cook good food themselves, but in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it's easier said than done. I want to make everyday eating a little easier for you, offer ideas and inspiration, as well as workable recipes that you're sure to succeed with! As a professional cook, I can also provide recipes considering various special diets, and you'll find many gluten-free recipes in Food In Half an Hour, and each recipe includes instructions for adapting the recipe for different diets.

At the end of this post, you'll find a recipe for this easy and delicious Persimmon-Lingonberry Quark

I wanted to write this guest post for VirQ by Virkkukoukkunen's blog because VirQ's mission to bring color, joy, and courage to live life true to oneself has partly encouraged me to pursue my own dreams as well. VirQ makes wonderfully personal and colorful products that surely everyone can find appealing! The products are also made with very high quality, without forgetting responsibility.

I busy myself in the kitchen a lot and therefore particularly enjoy VirQ by Virkkukoukkunen's delightful kitchen towels. The towels are made from a high-quality linen-cotton blend and are manufactured in Finland. The quality of the fabric ensures that even if you're busy in the kitchen and wash your hands often, the towel remains highly absorbent and doesn't turn into a limp wet rag in an instant!

The kitchen towels also come in a wide variety of colors and patterns. One of my favorites is definitely the 'Liitu' pattern. The Liitu pattern nicely combines different colors and therefore fits well with different seasons' interior design! You'll surely find your own favorite too. You might also find a dishcloth in the same shade as your kitchen towel in VirQ's selection.

VirQ's dishcloths are a bit better than the ordinary ones, just like the kitchen towels. The dishcloths are made from ecological cellulose fiber, which makes the dishcloth extremely durable, but also completely biodegradable. The dishcloth can be washed and refreshed in the dishwasher at 40 degrees again and again. These don't start to smell bad! Last but not least, I should also mention that buying products made in Finland is genuinely a good thing in my opinion because it supports Finnish work. Products made in Finland are also of high quality, and for me, that's an important criterion when making purchases.

The dishcloths can also feature nice positive words to brighten your day, like this one!

If it's time for you to get new hand towels for the kitchen or your old dishcloth is starting to crack and smell, head to the Imatra boutique to find new ones! I really like these and believe you'll take a liking to them too.

This fall, I visited VirQ's clothing photoshoot as a model, and it was quite an exciting experience because I usually feel more comfortable behind the camera. In the last picture, I'm wearing VirQ by Virkkukoukkunen's trusted dress in the beautiful Maxikukkaralla pattern.

Light, color & joy to your autumn!

P.S. Check out the fresh & autumnal Persimmon-Lingonberry Quark recipe below the image!

Would you like an autumnal and fresh quark that's an easy snack or everyday dessert? By adding gingerbread crumbs on top, you can make this a Christmas treat! Here's a recipe for you:

Persimmon-Lingonberry Quark

-3 x 250 g unflavored quark
-2 dl whipping cream
-2 persimmons
-1.5 dl lingonberries (frozen)
-(2 tbsp vanilla protein powder)
-(a little vanilla extract or vanilla sugar)
-1 tsp cinnamon
-honey to taste
-(persimmon cubes & lingonberries for decoration)

Preparation:
1. Thaw the lingonberries in the microwave and press them lightly to break up the structure a bit. Whip the cream until fluffy in a bowl. Add the quark, lingonberries, cinnamon, honey, and vanilla protein powder if you want to add it. Whip everything together. Check the taste and add honey if needed.
2. Dice the persimmons and mix in with a spoon. (Leave some cubes for decorating the quark).
3. Serve with persimmon cubes and lingonberries. If desired, also crumble gingerbread cookies on top of the portions if you want to make the quark Christmas-themed.
