We believe in redefining responsible fashion. We have embraced the concept of upcycling, where production byproducts, cutting scraps, and excess materials are transformed into new, high-quality products. We believe that good materials are not waste, but can be repurposed into desirable accessory treasures that serve you. We are committed to a production method wherein we utilize all the knits and fabrics made for us as precisely as possible.
In the winter of 2022, we made the bold decision to attempt producing our clothing line according to zero waste principles. We were shocked by the large amount of fabric scraps and leftover strips that ended up discarded during the production of our lovely dresses and tunics. Despite using leftover fabric for our popular hats, headbands, and hair ties, a significant amount of material was still wasted.
This realization led us to reevaluate our production processes and develop a strategy to ensure that every piece of fabric and each inspiring pile of oddly shaped scraps is put to good use.
Now, three years later, we are happy and proud to say that our clothing is truly zero waste, aligning with our commitment to sustainable fashion.
VirQ's Upcycling Section Now Online: Discover Unique Treasures!
We are thrilled to announce that VirQ has expanded in a wonderful way—we have opened a section called Upcycling in our new online store! This section is dedicated to all the creativity, beauty, and value we can create from our surplus materials.
Our online store's upcycling section offers our customers unique and responsibly made products that showcase the versatility of our fabrics.
Please note that not all products featured in this blog are available for sale in the global online store. However, if you're interested in something, please contact us—we can certainly arrange to get it for you!
What can be found in the section?
Men's Accessories: We offer a wide selection of stylish accessories for men, including the Gentleman's and Dandy sets, which consist of ties, bow ties, and pocket squares. These items complete any outfit according to your personal style. There is also a special bow tie size for little boys.

Hats and Bands: Practical and fashionable beanies, headbands, and caps keep you warm and save you on bad hair days. Beanies and headbands are familiar, and the Pätsä cap is a comfortable hat with a small brim that offers protection from the sun and wind. Add a touch of personality to any outfit with these unique, retro brimmed hats made from small fabric pieces, known as Pätsä.
Lovely Pätsä caps are also available for little ones!
Lirpukka and Sirpukka Scarves: These versatile accessories can function as scarves, headbands, or belts, adding color and a personal touch to your style.

Art Beads: Trendy additions that bring a splash of patterned fun and individuality to your outfit. Art Beads suit both edgy rock-inspired ensembles and cute outfit combinations. Each set of beads is unique, ensuring that the product you choose is one-of-a-kind. They come in two lengths: long and short, with slight variations in each.

Long Artisti Scarves: These elegant, exceptionally long scarves are suitable for both everyday and special occasions, giving a stylish finish to your outfit when the ordinary isn't enough.

Kemu Jersey Boas: For those who want to make a statement and for those Big Occasions when you need a unique, eco-friendly accessory that turns heads.
Each boa is special and unique—just like its wearer!
Jersey Ryijy: No knit strip is too small to create something meaningful. These modern zero waste mini ryijys fit various interior styles and, at their best, inspire imagination when viewed.

The Magic of Scraps
VirQ's zero waste clothing project has inspired creative entrepreneur Tiina to delve deeper into the art world. Sample swatches, cutting scraps, and other surplus fabrics used in the project have begun to take on new life through art.
Tiina has created interesting jersey ryijys for interior decoration. Narrow surplus strips have also become adorable bead necklaces and incredible jersey boas. The joy of creativity with scraps has led to the design and production of useful products, giving small fabric strips new meaning.
Demolition Art
The spatial artwork with wall paintings created for the Napinkulma demolition art project evoked much admiration and interest. Now that the Napinkulma building is just a memory, leaving an empty lot in its place, VirQ is excited to announce that in 2025 we will use our display windows to showcase zero waste textile art. The exhibitions will offer inspiring visual content to the street scene and highlight important environmental awareness through art and creativity. And perhaps become a destination for evening walks!
